Personal Development

Austhorpe - Forest School - 2023 (7)

What is Personal Development at Austhorpe?

It is how our curriculum extends beyond the academic. It provides for learners' broader development, enabling them to develop and discover their interests and talents.

  • The curriculum supports learners to develop their character - including their resilience, confidence and independence - and help them to know how to keep physically and mentally healthy.
  • School prepares learners for future success.
  • School prepares learners for life in modern Britain by: equipping them to be responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to society; developing their understanding of fundamental British values; developing their understanding and appreciation of diversity; celebrating what we have in common and promoting respect for the different protected characteristics as defined in law.

The Austhorpe Way

At Austhorpe Primary School we value the continued development of skills and life-long learning for every child in conjunction with our values of SHINE.

In consultation with our School Council, we have created milestones that we call the Austhorpe Way.

The Austhorpe Way is a guide to support parents and carers to recognise a wider of activities that form part of each child's Personal Development.

As children progress through the Austhorpe Way, they have the opportunity to earn badges. we share their success in Headteacher's Assemblies and give each child a chance to SHINE.
